Child & Adolescent Evaluations

The SDSU Psychology Clinic offers comprehensive testing and evaluation services for adolescents and children.

We provide psychoeducational testing to assess for learning disorders, intellectual disability, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as assessments required for testing accommodations.

Each testing plan is individualized to the child's needs and reviewed by the licensed psychologist supervising the case.

Evaluation Process

The process for child and adolescent evaluations starts with a parent interview and the completion of screening questionnaires asking about the child’s behavior.

During the appointment with the child, the clinician will interact with the child and watch how the child responds, plays, and communicates.

This assessment will include specific evidence-based approaches (tests supported by research) and observations of the child’s behavior by a clinician.

The evaluation can also include interviews with others who know the child (such as teachers or other clinical providers) as well as review prior testing and school records if appropriate.

All evaluations conclude with a feedback session outlining the results of the testing and a written report.
